Plowing The Field
Because of Caleb's age, he hasn't been able to go on the tractor with Clay as much as Jacob has. He has been really sad about it and keeps telling me that Jacob needs to stay and Caleb needs to go. Jacob went with Clay again so Caleb and I went on a date. We ate chicken and french fries.

Let Freedom Ring
We had a fabulous 4th of July!! The 4th of July is honestly one of my favorite holidays. I always cry when the flag goes by and I love to see the jets that always fly over the parade route. It's always a wonderful time for friends and family to get together and to enjoy a little bit of summer! The Batty's started things off by going to the parade.
Jacob is saying "I love the parade"
We had a barbecue that night with our friends the Mahrts. Ladawn was so nice to take this picture of our little patriotic family.
I honestly took 20 pictures before I got one that looked this good

A Night Out On the Lake
Clay's parents just bought a boat. Nicest thing they could ever do for us! Thanks guys :) Clay and I both love boating- and on several occasions we almost bought a boat. Joey and Dianne just bought a boat and have been so nice to invite us to go to the lake with them a few times. We have had a blast and are so grateful for their generosity. Correction, when I say we, I really mean everyone but Caleb. Honestly, that kid is scared of more things than is humanly possible.

Time For The Farm
Clay is obsessed with being a full time farmer. I am not. The compromise is that Clay can farm a little on the side. Before we made the jump into buying a piece of land, we decided to lease a farm to make sure it was going to work out. It really has been pretty good. Clay grew about 60 acres of oats and since we don't have anywhere to store the grain, Clay decided to turn it into oat hay. This is his first cutting. Jacob was so excited that he could hardly stand it. He rode around with Clay all evening and would have kept going all night. Caleb and I lasted 2 passes.

Showering Katrina With Gifts-part 1
My cute little sister Katrina is getting married! Yes she is. On July 31. I can't believe it. We had the first of several showers for her on the 27th of June. It was so fun to see old friends and see all of the loot that Katrina and Jon got.

We Love Primary Childrens Hospital
Jacob had to have some urology surgery at the Primary Children's Hospital 2 weeks ago. All I have to say is I LOVE PRIMARY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL!! They were so awesome. The surgery probably could have been done in Vernal, but our pediatrician recommended we go out to Primary Children's. The drive and effort was totally worth it!! They nurses were awesome. They explained everything to him, in kid terms. They gave him toys to play with and a little surgery buddy to play with. He got to ride down the hall to the surgery in a wagon too! It was so awesome. We were only there for a few hours but I think the people who work there are awesome! We had such a positive experience there. Thanks to all the nurses and doctors who make that place so wonderful!
Here is Jacob in the car trying to figure out what just happened to him.
As soon as Jacob was awake enough they gave him some pop and a bag of chips. What a champ. Jacob was so awesome. He was so brave and didn't cry at all!! He taught all (and I mean all) of the nurses about John Deere Tractors and insisted on keeping his John Deere shirt on instead of wearing a gown. The anesthesiologist said that he hadn't ever heard a kid talk to much. He just couldn't help but spread the John Deere love. It was really funny. Good job little Jakey! We're glad you're going to be okay.Posted by RoseAnna at 12:36 PM 2 comments

Why We Have 2 Cats
I'm not a cat person. I am more of a dog person. I wouldn't have a cat if it weren't for the mice. That is why we got a cat in the first place. The cat we have is awesome. I feed it like once a week and it doesn't beg for attention, but it does catch mice very well. Since we got our cat our mouse problem has been very minimal. Well, last week it became very necessary to get another cat. Now we have 2 cats. Jacob loves the new little kitty and is so cute with her, hence this cute photo.
The reason we decided to get another cat is because...are you ready?...I touched a dead mouse with my bare hand. Yes. You read that right. With my bare hand. How, you might ask? I was cleaning up my bedroom and I thought I could smell something a little off but just thought it was Clay's dirty socks. I was getting things out from under my bed when I thought I saw one of Jacob's missing church socks. I reached under the bed and picked it us and immediately realized that it was a mouse. A dead mouse. In my house. Honestly. I dropped it and ran around the house screaming bloody murder. Luckily Clay was home so he was able to take care of it, but I was certain that I was going to die. I washed my had so much I think I rubbed all the skin off. Honestly. This sort of thing shouldn't happen to me. I hate mice so bad. I am still very traumatized by this whole experience. Obviously the cat isn't doing it's job very well so we had to adopt reinforcements. Hopefully between the two of them they can make sure this doesn't ever happen again.
Moral of the story: Even if you hate cats, one cat is never enough. And mice stink. And I'm glad to be alive. I hate mice.

Batty Hotel
Two of my dearest friends Katie and Cherice, came out to Vernal for a visit a couple of weeks ago. Because of my lack of blogging lately, I'm a little behind, but I still thought it was blog worthy. We had so much fun staying up way to late, taking the kids to the park and eating junk food. Thanks girls for an awesome week!! I love you guys so much.
