Run. Drive. Sleep? Repeat.

I am still alive. You might not think that is a very meaningful statement, but if you knew what I experienced this last weekend, then you would realize that this is a very important statement. My family and I ran the Wasatch Back relay in the Ragnar Relay Series. We have been training since January and we survived!!! It took our team of 12 runners 32 hours to run the 188 miles course. It was so awesome and it was totally worth all the hard work and preparation. We had a blast and surprisingly enough, almost all of us want to do it again. This picture of Burdette says it all. WE DID IT!!

Leg 1: 5.1 miles

Leg 2: 4.2 miles

Leg 3: 3.8 miles

Clay did so good. I have to be honest, I was really worried about him. He did awesome and he didn't even need to call the paramedics!!

I honestly don't know how I survived that last leg!

This is me looking totally awesome while running!!

Our team of 12 runners was split into 2 vans. In our van we had my cousin Collin, Clay's cousin Catlin, Me, Clay, Burdette (my brother) and Collin's cousin Seth. We had a blast taking turns driving and running.

And finally, here is a picture of Clay and me right before I ran for the first time. It was honestly the coolest thing we have ever done!! I know it sounds crazy, but it was really fun.

We're doing the Las Vegas part of this race in October if anyone want to join in :)

Wishin' To Go Fishin'

All winter long, Jacob kept asking when he could go fishing. We kept telling him "in the summer." (We're not big into ice-fishing.) As soon as the weather started to warm up in the spring he started bugging Clay to take him fishing. We decided to run up on the mountain and go fishing of Friday afternoon. The weather was just starting to get bad but Jacob really wanted to go, so we went. Before Clay could even sit down, after casting his line, he had a smalish fish. Jacob helped him reel it in and then they released it.

But later that day...

Jacob was sitting with his little Spider Man pole in the water and all of the sudden his "line went ziiiinggggg" (his words, not mine)

He had a really big fish on his line. He reeled as fast as he could and got it most of the way in. Then Clay had to help his get it the rest of the way in. Jacob was so excited. He caught a 20 inch trout. He was so excited, Caleb was terrified of it.

It was too heavy for him to even hold.

Even though it was so cold and windy, it was a blast, just to see Jacob's face when he got that fish. Way to go buddy! You're our best fisherman.

We're Ready For Summertime Swimming

As you can tell we are all excited for summer. We got the little swimming pool out and Jacob said he really NEEDED some swimming goggles. I got these at the dollar store for $1 and they are pretty cool. Everyone tried them on:

Well almost everyone tried them on. Little Caleb was scared so he put them around his neck and made a silly face

But don't worry, Scruffy tried them on. He is such an awesome dog.

So there you have the evidence that the Batty's are ready for summer.
